On a pleasant spring afternoon I was reading outdoors on the balcony patio at a university library. I sat so that I could not only enjoy the peaceful view of the park like area, but so I could keep an eye on the clock near the entry as well. A cute graduate student came around the corner towards me and the entry railing. As she approached I could not help notice her lovely brown hair, her coordinated attire, and especially ... her shoes... I knew immediately she was a shoe player. She was wearing a simple white blouse, knee length narrow brown skirt with dark brown stockings and rolled down white cotton ankle socks ... and some very low cut brown penny loafers, very comfortable looking, slightly loose and slipping just a little off her heels with every step. Walking towards me I could see the contrasting color on the inside of her shoe as she walked. Definately a player !

My hope was that she was not just passing by, and when she stopped at the entry railing, she went up on her tip toes to look for a friend, or perhaps, the best place to study. While on tip toes both shoes slipped off her heel, and she began to shoe play with one, slipping in and out easily. She almost lost her shoe when she twisted to one side to check the view, but simply retrieved it and proceeded on to a study table and chairs near the railing ... with a great view for me ! For awhile she stood leaning at the edge of the table as though she was waiting for someone, and while doing so I could not help noticing her shoe play. She seemed a little anxious while waiting, and it reflected in her shoe play ... it was cautious and silent. At one point she pulled her left leg behind her right and began rubbing the rear of her leg with her foot. She let her heel slide off several times, and finally, from about 6" off the ground, her shoe fell off noisily. She seemed embarrassed at the noise, found her shoe quickly, and sat down.

She crossed one leg over the other continuing her shoe play, but in a more relaxed manner, dangling one shoe to the very end of her toe until it finally dropped of. She pulled her other foot back about a foot, in effect lowering her crossed foot, and while the shoe was still on the floor she would, while still keeping her legs crossed, slide her foot in and out of her lost shoe, playing with it constantly, tilting it from side to side, and crushing the toe or the heel of her shoe. She seemed to be slowly massaging her foot with her shoe ... and she switched crossed legs several times and seemed to repeat the process effortlessly. After a while she stood up to stretch, going over to the open steel railing at the edge of the patio. Leaning against the railing while looking at the view she continued her shoe play. A particularly unique thing she did was to slip out of her left shoe, let it lay on its side, while keeping her toes inside the shoe and with her heel firmly on the ground. Shifting her weight fully to her left foot, she began to shoe play with her right shoe! Both shoes playing at once while she was standing !

She played with both shoes allot while at the railing ... and almost lost them over the edge several times, but managed to "save" them each time. After her break she sat down to continue her studies. It must have been a new subject this time, as her legs were mostly under the bench, rather than her legs crossed, but the shoe play continued unabated. The foot massage continued. Another half hour or so went by when another coed came up to her table and began to chat. The tempo of her shoe play changed immediately, and was more reserved, even though her visitor was shoe playing a bit herself. Her friend was wearing a blue blouse tight black skirt, semi loose black flats and stockings. You could tell from the interaction they were not close friends, perhaps just someone new from her class.

After 5 minutes or so a young man joined them in their chat, obviously this new girl's boyfriend. The tempo of the shoe play changed for both of them, was much more animated than with just the two of them alone. Neither the girlfriend nor her boyfriend sat down, as they knew she was trying to study. The boy was telling some sort of story and both the girls were obviously enjoying it as told by their shoe play. The sitting girl had one shoe dangling precariously at the very end of her toe when they all laughed at the joke the boy told. As she leaned back in laughter her shoe fell off ...and a bit out of reach for her exploring foot. She must have been embarrassed, as she let it stay there until her friends finally left.

She couldn't keep her mind on her studies ... perhaps the boyfriend intrigued her, so she got up to stretch at the railing again, except this time was facing away from the view, obviously in deep thought, perhaps about the boy she just met. She continued with her shoe play, but it was even more animated, and slightly more reckless than before. Perhaps she was a little frustrated. She began to shoe play on the railing again, coming dangerously close to losing her shoe several times. At one point her shoe was completely vertical outside of the railing, only being barely held with her toe. But through her toe dexterity she saved it from falling, only to switch feet and try the same with the other. Finally she lost her shoe though the railing and it fell into the bushes below. She didn't realize it at first, and kept feeling around with her socked foot for her lost shoe, but finally she had to look down. With it nowhere to be seen on the floor, she turned around and looked over the railing, seeing her lost shoe below. You could tell she was upset, and after a few moments of frustration, went back to the table, gathered up her books, and left to fetch her missing shoe.

I could not resist, so I went to "stretch" myself at the railing. Looking down, I saw the missing shoe, which had fallen into some shrubs below. As I was looking I saw the white socked foot stretch out to retrieve the lost shoe from the bushes. After some effort (she dropped it a few more times), she was finally able to get it on her foot and walked away happy. She did not get far when apparently she realized her white sock must have gotten soiled from walking around shoeless. She stopped at another table, sat down and, one at a time, removed both ankle socks, revealing just stockings with reinforced heels and toes. Since she now was completely attired, she began her reading again at this lower table on the grass. But the shoe play changed, as her stocking clad foot was much more slippery with stockings than with socks. She lost or dropped her shoe frequently. Finally with her studies finished she got up and walked away on the grass. I could not help but notice that her shoes slipped more easily off her heel with the stockings, and at one point, she walked out of her shoe completely.
